Time constraints, concerns around safety and limited or no availability of outdoor space for some families, are some of the factors that have contributed to the shift in children spending more time indoors than in previous years.
This does not mean that physical play can’t happen indoors, but that we need to be more creative in creating these play opportunities.
Box races, animal charades, balloon Olympics, magic carpet rides on small blankets or towels, obstacle courses using chairs and strings, cushions and/or other household items (with some adult support ?) as they go on a expedition adventure can be fun alternatives. Let’s PlayMore!
